The Nativity Trail at Bodenham has long been a tradition popular with families for several years. We invite you to come and take part in our magical family event.

 
Follow the stars that take you on a walk around the Arboretum’s ‘Big Pool’ and take part, if you wish, in our walk-along Christmas quiz!
 
The trail will take you to our Farmyard where you can see our live nativity scenes and where our farm animals reside for the winter months.
 
You are then free to explore the rest of the Arboretum – over 5 miles of wonderful woodland walks – please make sure you wear suitable footwear.
 
Our ‘take-away’ Christmas Kitchen will be serving hot / cold drinks, including mulled wine, hotdogs, hot turkey baguettes and cakes.

Fri 18th Dec, Silver Clay Jewellery Making Workshop

A wonderful 3-hour workshop, in the tranquil setting of Bodenham’s Lakeside Room, led by Kim Ridler who brings her experience in silver-smithing, enamelling and silver-clay.
 
This COVID-secure workshop is suitable for beginners and will take you through each stage of the process – rolling out the clay, texturing, cutting, drying, sanding, firing, finishing – with a bit a of polishing of your very own piece of silver jewellery!
All materials are included.
The workshop can accommodate 4 people (suitable for all ages aged 16+) and please note that you must wear closed toe footwear.

Sat 24th Oct – Sun 1st Nov, Bodenham’s Pumpkin Walk

We have been so overwhelmed by interest in our annual Pumpkin Walk that we have decided the safest way to proceed with the event is to make it ‘Ticket Only.’ We are concerned that it may become far too crowded / unsafe if we do not cap numbers to this event.
Therefore, admission will be by ticket only.

We have allocated three slots (10am – 12pm, 12pm – 2pm, 2pm – 4pm) to each of the nine days the Trail will be open (Sat 24th Oct – Sun 1st Nov inclusive).

Standard Arboretum Admission fees: Adult £6.50, Children £3.50, Under 5s free of charge, + booking fee. Annual Pass Holders – the Trail is included as part of your subscription. (booking is not required – simply present your pass on the day you choose to visit).

Daytime only, no activities on the terrace, but just as much fun! Dogs are welcome but please keep them on a lead.

Please note – the Arboretum will close at 5pm.

 

Wed 14th Oct – Oils & Acrylics – Outdoor Painting Workshops

This workshop will be held outdoors and there are limited numbers to ensure it can comply with social distancing / Govt requirements. (Total of 6 people including tutor).

International prize winning local artist Dj offers the opportunity to paint outside and explore different methods and techniques for applying paint, with an emphasis on colour mixing, to help capture Bodenham’s beautiful landscape effectively.

The workshop will take place within the grounds of the Arboretum and will involve painting demonstrations, as well as individual guidance and tuition.

You will need to bring your own art materials, including canvas or board, oil or acrylic paints, brushes, easel or pochade box and a seat if required. Suitable outdoor clothing is also recommended.

Can you spot our special visitors who are hiding in the Arboretum? They have taken over ‘Poplar Dingle!’

The ‘Tree People’ are quite shy…some are funny, some grumpy, some cheeky and some very naughty. They like to hide amongst the trees!

They’re looking forward to seeing you…collect a treat at the end if you manage to find them all!

From Sat 18th July onwards, every day from 10am – 5pm, until 31st August.

Trail included as part of Admission fee: Adults £6.50, Children £3.50 (under 5s free). Booking not necessary – just turn up. Dogs on leads welcome.

 

Sat 5th Sept – Plant Hunters’ Fair

The popular, FREE TO ENTER, plant fair with brilliant independent plant nurseries and artisans returns! It’s a great time to give your garden a late boost of colour and is also the perfect time to plant, ready for next year’s bloom. The lakeside restaurant will be open. If you want to explore the 156-acre arboretum, there is a separate charge. Free entry to the plant fair. Free parking. Dogs welcome but please keep them on a lead. The fair runs from 10am–4pm.

The Svartland Vikings return for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Tour their village, hear their interesting stories, watch them cook and learn the secrets of their trades & crafts……all in a safe outdoor environment, with social distancing measures in place.

Plus, enjoy over 5 miles of wonderful woodland walks. Refreshments available from the Visitor Centre or pack a picnic!

Mon 13th July – Pencil & Watercolour Workshops

Come down to Bodenham Arboretum and unleash your inner artist with the help of local artist Daphne Millington. Learn new skills using pencils and / or watercolours to create your very own masterpiece.

We ask that you please bring a HB pencil + a selection of coloured pencils, putty rubber and smooth paper if you’re sticking to the pencil drawing; if you prefer using watercolours please bring along your own paints and brushes – however we will have some spare if you’re unable to get hold of all of these.

The day also includes morning tea or coffee with cake, homemade meat plaits with a selection of delicious salads and a scrumptious homemade dessert and finish the day off with the Bodenham afternoon cream tea.

Time: 10am – 4pm
Cost: £29.50 per person with a non refundable £5 deposit to be paid per person to secure your place.

Woodland Explorers and Forest Explorers are wonderful sessions where the children can experience and discover the woods in a safe and secure environment. The wonderful woodland of Bodenham Arboretum provides a beautiful autumnal backdrop for our adventures! Activities include bushcraft and forest school type activities, including den building, mud kitchen, cooking on the fire, natural arts and crafts.

Enjoy yoga in the open air, exploring the body and opening the mind. Breathe deep and let your body guide you.

The session is open to all levels of experience, whether you have never done yoga before or are an experienced practitioner. Enjoying an open flow and open hearted practice in the beautiful grounds of Bodenham Arboretum.

Yoga teacher Victoria Waits you will take you on a journey releasing tension and stress within the body physical and emotionally. Listening to the sounds of nature, connecting to the earth, feeling the breeze and sharing the space with like minded people.

These workshops are held in the grounds outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful sunshine. Sessions are weather permitting, if it is raining on the day you will receive notification that the workshop has been cancelled and will be refunded in full.

Pack a picnic, sit back and enjoy an evening of wonderful music covering a mix of genres from contemporary to classics from the very talented James Baker Acoustic, Got 2 Sing Choir and Bromyard Wind Band.

A bar will also be open. Grounds open 6.00pm, music 7.00pm – 9.30pm.

Mon 1st June, Djembe Drumming Workshop – Beginners to Improvers

Experience the energy of traditional West African drumming and the joy of community music making with tutor Faith Sax for an energizing day here in the beautiful surroundings of Bodenham Arboretum.

£37.00 per person for the day, which also includes morning tea or coffee, a Ploughman’s Lunch and an afternoon cream tea!

The day is pitched for beginners and improvers to learn how to play Djembe and Bass Drums. Drums are provided. Other Workshops will be running throughout the year: June 1st, July 6th, Sept 14th and Nov 16th.

Sat 25th April – Paws for a Chat – Guide Dogs Tea Party!

Join Guide Dog volunteers and their dogs for tea and cake! Meet Golden Retriever, Ulma and friends! Ulma had 11 puppies just before Christmas. and they are all now with their Puppy Walkers all over the country!

Learn all about the life of a Guide Dog and the invaluable role they play in becoming someone’s life changer, their lifeline, their companion
and their best friend.

There will be a tombola and Guide Dogs trading goods for sale, eg badges, pens, pencils, etc. – from which all monies raised goes to Guide Dogs.

Booking not required – just pop along to say hello!
 
This will be taking place on the terrace of the Arboretum – there is no charge to attend this event, but please note, if you wish to tour the Arboretum then normal admission fees apply (£6.50 adults, £3.50 children, under 5s free).

This year we have something new on our Gingerbread Trail…giant lollipops!

We invite you to come and find the Gingerbread characters and giant lollipops which we have hidden around the Arboretum.

Look for the clues that lead you to the special Gingerbread House!

Treat your ‘special someone’ to a Valentine’s Afternoon Tea or Evening Meal at Bodenham!

The tables will be set for Afternoon Tea in our candle-lit Lakeside Room overlooking the Big Pool and afterwards you can take a romantic walk around the Arboretum (price includes Arboretum Admission for 2). 2.00 – 5.00pm. Cost – £30.00 for two people.

You can take part in our competition along the way – answering questions along the trail before posting your entry in the Visitor Centre. The winners will be announced at the end of the Christmas Season and a prize awarded.
The Nativity Trail is included in normal admission into the grounds – £6.50 Adults, £3.50 Children (5-16 years).
Booking isn’t necessary – simply turn up and pay upon arrival.

One of our favourite family events of the year…so much so we have added an additional night – Friday 20th and Saturday 21st December, 5.00 – 7.00pm.

Join the torch-lit procession from the Visitor Centre to the Barns for our Christmas Carol Service, before returning to the Lakeside Terrace to soak up the festive atmosphere with mulled wine and mince pies (included in ticket price).

A bar will be open & hot food inc turkey baguettes will be served until 9pm. Vegetarian option & Children’s Snack Boxes also available.

Proceeds go to St. John the Baptist Church, Wolverley.

Sat 30th November, Charity Evening Neon Dog Walk

Come and join The Greyhound Trust Hall Green for a Neon Dog Walk around beautiful Bodenham Arboretum.

Join us as we take an enchanted woodland walk with our four-legged friends, illuminating the pathways on this November evening!

Anyone can join in – you don’t have to bring a dog!

There will be an approximate 1-mile circuit around the Arboretum – meet at 5pm and we leave the Visitor Centre at 5.30pm and return for a light supper…which includes jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings (inc vegetarian option).

Neon collars / necklaces will be available to purchase on the evening, however you are welcome to bring your own.

Please note that dogs must be kept on leads at all times.

Join us for a guided Ghost Walk. Dare to be scared as terrifying tales from Bodenham’s past are recounted like never before. Weeping Bank Productions bring terror to the Arboretum. It will be dark…very dark…and here, no one can hear you scream!

Grounds open 6.00pm, food served until 9.00pm

Tickets: £15, inc light supper*. Bar open.
Time slots: 7pm, 8pm, 9pm – limited spaces.
Each walk lasting approximately 45 minutes. Choose to eat prior or after your guided walk – food will be served 6 – 9pm. An outdoor event so please wear suitable attire / footwear. Torch optional.

Outdoor Yoga at Bodenham

Enjoy yoga in the open air, exploring the body and opening the mind. Breathe deep and let your body guide you. The session is open to all levels of experience, whether you have never done yoga before or are an experienced practitioner. Enjoying an open flow and open hearted practice in the beautiful grounds of Bodenham Arboretum. Guided by yoga teacher Victoria Waits you will be taken on a journey releasing tension and stress within the body physical and emotionally. Listening to the sounds of nature, connecting to the earth, feeling the breeze and sharing the space with like minded people. Suitable for ages 16+

Duration – one and a half hours – 1.30-3.00pm.
Cost: £10 per person.

Meet at the Visitor Centre 10-15 minutes prior to session beginning.

Please bring your own mat if you have one, if not please email: victoriawaitsyoga@gmail.com. Wear comfortable clothes nothing to baggy, nothing too tight! Your ticket allows you to enjoy the grounds. Lovely food and refreshments (not included in the price) available from the Visitor Centre – so you’re welcome to enjoy a drink and sit down after the workshop has finished.

These workshops are held in the grounds outdoors, enjoying the fresh air and beautiful sunshine. Sessions are weather permitting, if it is raining on the day you will receive notification that the workshop has been cancelled and will be refunded in full.

 

 

 

Sat 15th June, Bodenham’s Proms & Picnic in the Park

An open-air concert brought to you by one of the Midlands’ fastest growing contemporary choirs and Hereford’s finest wind band, in the beautiful grounds of Bodenham Arboretum.

Bring your own picnic and sit back and enjoy a night of quintessential music from Bromyard’s Symphonic Wind Band and Got 2 Sing Choir, covering a variety of genres from contemporary, to West End musicals and classic ‘prom’ tunes!

A bar will also be open. Grounds open 6.30pm
